Master Internet Marketing Strategies With These Top Tips | Maw ...

How to earn more Online with Online marketing ?
Are you finding the information on internet marketing strategies confusing? Perhaps you are finding much of the information contradictory? If so, you are not alone. That's the reason why we developed our website. We spent time trying to gather the facts for ourselves, unfortunately, what we found didn't help us make decisions at all.

Have a look at the article below. It presents the facts in such an easy language that we were able to understand it immediately. If it helps clear the fog for you, please let your friends know about our website, as it might be useful for them also.

?

Internet marketing is no easy feat. There are an overwhelming number of opportunities for you to post ads, reach out to potential customers and send out your marketing slogans. However, how to start off and keep organized throughout the process, is easier than you might think. Take a look at the tips offered in this article and you will find yourself on the way to your internet marketing goals in no time.

Effective internet marketing involves including information that is geared for all of your readers. Some people are very knowledgeable about the product you are selling, and others may have just come across it recently. Include basic information about the product using simple terms and then add complicated technical information. This will help you increase sales by providing a little something for everyone.

While it is true that a lot of Internet marketers are able to advertise their sites and products without spending money at all, this is something that is incredibly rare. Blog businesses hosted on free sites that make 50k a year are pretty much dying off. You will need to invest some money, if only for a legitimate website and some keyword campaigns.

Successful internet marketing depends upon your products being easily and readily available. If your products are easy to order, you will have increased sales. So try to look at things from a customer's viewpoint, even going as far as to buy some of your own products. This way you will know if there are any issues with the ordering process. If you come across any difficulties, don't hesitate to fix them.

Err on the side of caution if you are unsure of what font or style to choose for your website. Not everyone will have perfect sight, especially the older visitors to your page, so use a font that is clear, large and legible if you want to improve the overall experience of your visitors.

Use videos to advertise your website. Online videos are the latest craze in internet marketing. Many sites use online video sharing sites to link videos about their website to the site itself. It is among the latest, cutting edge methods of marketing today. If expense is a concern, there are plenty of low-budget options available.

It's well known that writing articles with unique content is an effective online marketing technique. However, knowing how to format those articles to make them appealing to potential buyers is another matter. Studies have shown that people tend to skim online articles. So how can you use this information to your advantage? Write articles with bulleted lists, emphasize key words or phrases by capitalizing or underlining them or by using bold or italicized letters, use subheadings and keep your paragraphs short and to the point.

If you don't have the full skill set needed to start with Internet Marketing you shouldn't fret. Internet marketing is great because there is a lot of hands on experience available. The best way to start is simply to start. Find a very basic domain name and see what you can do to improve it.

It is important to make the internet marketing experience for your customer as pleasant as possible by providing a website that doesn't look cheap. If you can't afford a professional website design, consider taking a low cost course at a local county college and spruce up your site with the tips that you learn.

No matter what you're changing about your business, whether it's a big change or a simple change of page layout, make sure you tell your customers about it. Keep them informed on everything that's happening with your business. This is easy to do with mass mailers, so there's no excuse not to do it.

Avoid spam, deceitful tricks, and scams. Doing business this way can be tempting at times, especially when the internet feels so anonymous, but they are not worth the potential loss. Tactics such as these might bring a short-term money gain, but they will ruin your reputation and could potentially destroy the business you have worked so hard to create.

Cancer screenings held at Chargers camp

SAN DIEGO - For the crowds of more than 2,000, day three of Chargers training camp was more than just about getting a glimpse of their favorite player.

It was also about taking a proactive approach against one of the deadliest forms of skin cancer, melanoma, which kills one person every hour.

It hits close to home for those living in California. This year alone, about 8,500 people are expected to be diagnosed with skin cancer.?

The Chargers teamed up with Melanoma Exposed and offered free skin cancer screenings.

Among those in line was Vincent Brown Sr., the father of Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown.

"My dad passed away when he was 72 and we don't know what kind of cancer he had, and I wanted to get checked out," said Brown Sr.

Doctors told him he had nothing to worry about, but not everyone gets that same news.

John Garcia was diagnosed last December with stage-three skin cancer.

"I grew up here all my life and I never wore sunscreen and I hung out at the beach," Garcia said.

It is a story doctors say is all too familiar as men are two times more likely to die from melanoma compared to women, which is why yearly screenings are important.

After Saturday's stop in San Diego, the Melanoma Expose team will be visiting other cities and make stops at other football camps.

Police: $53 million in jewels stolen in Cannes

PARIS (AP) ? A staggering 40 million euro ($53 million) worth of diamonds and other jewels were stolen Sunday from the Carlton Intercontinental Hotel in Cannes, in one of Europe's biggest jewelry heists in recent years, police said.

The hotel in the sweltering French Riviera was hosting a temporary jewelry exhibit over the summer from the prestigious Leviev diamond house, which is owned by Israeli billionaire Lev Leviev.

A police spokesman said the theft took place around noon, but he could not confirm local media reports that the robber was a single gunman who stuffed a suitcase with the gems before making a swift exit. The spokesman spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter on the record.

Several police officers were placed in front of the Carlton exhibition room to prevent journalists and photographers gathered at the scene from entering.

The luxury Carlton hotel is situated on the exclusive Promenade de la Croisette that stretches a mile and a half along the French Riviera, and is thronged by the rich and famous throughout the year. The hotel's position provides not only a beautiful view of the sea, but an easy get away for potential jewel thieves along the long stretch of road.

The valuable gems were supposed to be on public display until the end of August. It was not immediately clear how many pieces were stolen.

Hotel officials would not comment, and attempts to reach Leviev or his company were not immediately successful.

Several brazen jewelry thefts have taken place this year, including one in Belgium on Feb. 18 that involved some $50 million worth of diamonds.

In that heist, the stones from the global diamond center of Antwerp had been loaded on a plane headed to Zurich when robbers dressed in dark police clothing and hoods drove through a hole they'd cut in the Brussels Airport fence in two black cars with blue police lights flashing. They drove onto the tarmac, approached the plane, brandished machine guns, offloaded the diamonds, then left in an operation that took barely five minutes.

Authorities have since detained dozens of people and recovered much of the stolen treasure in that operation.

In May, Cannes was struck by two highly publicized jewelry heists during the Cannes Film Festival.

In the first theft, robbers stole about $1 million worth of jewels after ripping a safe from the wall of a hotel room. The jewelry was taken from the Novotel room of an employee of Chopard, the Swiss-based watch and jewelry maker that has loaned bling to A-list stars walking the red carpet at the film festival.

And in the second, thieves outsmarted 80 security guards in an exclusive hotel and made off with a De Grisogono necklace that creators say is worth 2 million euros ($2.6 million.)

Jewel thieves have been getting attention in Europe in more ways than one.

On Thursday, a member of the notorious "Pink Panther" jewel thief gang escaped from a Swiss prison after accomplices rammed a gate and overpowered guards with bursts from their AK-47s, police said.

Milan Poparic fled with fellow inmate Adrian Albrecht from the Orbe prison in the western state of Vaud.

Police say the Pink Panthers network's members are prime suspects in a series of daring thefts. According to Interpol, the group has targeted luxury watch and jewelry stores in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States, netting more than ?330 million (?285m) since 1999.

Poparic is the third member of the Pink Panthers to escape from a Swiss prison in as many months, according to Vaud police.

Treasury's Lew: Congress needs to pass debt limit

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Congress needs to raise the debt limit and take away the "cloud of uncertainty" about the nation's ability to pay its bills, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said in an interview broadcast Sunday.

"The fight over the debt limit in 2011 hurt the economy, even though, in the end, we saw an extension of the debt limit. We saw confidence fall, and it hurt the economy. Congress needs to do its job. It needs to finish its work on appropriation bills. It needs to pass a debt limit," Lew said on NBC's "Meet The Press."

Senior lawmakers on Capitol Hill are trying to come up with must-do legislation to keep federal agencies running after Sept. 30 and prevent the possibility of a government shutdown. At issue is what is normally routine: a plug-the-gap measure to fund the government for a few weeks or months until a deal can be worked out on appropriations bills giving agencies their operating budgets for the full 2014 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.

However, some Democrats don't want to vote to continue to fund the government at new, lower levels mandated by the automatic, across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration. And some conservatives are making a last stand against President Barack Obama's new health care law. In addition, Senate Democrats are resistant to a $20 billion spending cut wanted by many Republicans.

Lew maintains that the president won't negotiate over the debt limit.

"The mere fact of negotiating over the debt limit, after 2011, would introduce this notion that somehow there's a question about whether or not we're going to pay our bills, whether or not we're going to protect the full faith and credit of the United States," Lew said on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." ''Well, it's not OK to default. Congress can't let us default."

"(Congress) has to stop looking for what's the last possible moment," Lew told "Fox News Sunday." ''They should get back after they take their time off in August and they should finish their work and get it done so that there's no uncertainty about America's ability to pay its bills."

Separately, Lew said no federal bailout is in the works for the city of Detroit, which recently filed for bankruptcy protection. Pressed as to why the government chose to bail out big banks, the auto industry and others, but isn't assisting the city, Lew said on CNN's "State of the Union" that the government has been giving Detroit technical advice and has made resources available to help take down blighted properties through federal programs.

But Lew said that the situation in 2009-2010 that warranted the other bailouts was "unique," and that the current problems that Detroit has with its creditors, "it's going to have to work out with its creditors."

Egypt's leaders must pull nation back from brink: U.S.

By Arshad Mohammed and Phil Stewart

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Egypt's leaders must pull their country "back from the brink," U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Saturday, saying Egypt was at a pivotal moment after the killing of dozens of protesters.

Egyptian security forces shot dead dozens of supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohamed Mursi, witnesses said, days after the army chief called for a popular mandate to wipe out "violence and terrorism."

Kerry spoke to two members of Egypt's interim government - Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei and Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy - to voice his "deep concern about the bloodshed and violence" while U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel called army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to urge restraint.

"This is a pivotal moment for Egypt," Kerry said in a written statement. "The United States ... calls on all of Egypt's leaders across the political spectrum to act immediately to help their country take a step back from the brink."

He also said it was essential that the security forces respect Egyptians' right to protest peacefully, and that this "a moral and legal obligation." He repeated the U.S. call for an inclusive political process involving all elements of society to restore the country to a free and fairly elected government.

The military toppled Mursi on July 3, plunging the Arab world's most populous nation into further upheaval two and a half years after long-time autocrat and U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak was himself ousted in a popular revolution.

HAGEL'S HALF-HOUR CALL TO SISI

In the latest of a series of calls in recent weeks, Hagel urged Sisi, who led the military in toppling Mursi and handing power to an interim administration, to forestall further violence.

"Secretary Hagel spoke by phone with Egyptian Defense Minister al-Sisi to express deep concern about the security situation and recent violence in Egypt, and to encourage that restraint be exercised during this difficult period," Pentagon spokesman George Little said. The call lasted about 30 minutes, he said.

"The United States believes that the current transition needs to be marked by inclusivity, that Egyptian authorities should avoid politicized arrests and detentions, and take steps to prevent further bloodshed and loss of life," Little added.

Hagel has spoken regularly with Sisi in recent weeks as the U.S. military has sought to leverage the ties with the Egyptian armed forces built up over three decades of military aid and training that followed Egypt's peace treaty with Israel.

How much influence the United States has over Egypt remains an open question despite the roughly $1.55 billion in annual aid that it provides, including $1.3 billion to the armed forces, chiefly for military hardware such as tanks and aircraft.

Washington has been criticized both by those who supported the ouster of Mursi, Egypt's first freely elected president, and by his Muslim Brotherhood supporters, who say the United States acquiesced in his overthrow by the military.

The Obama administration has at times sent equivocal signals to Egypt and its military, including in the past week.

On Wednesday, the administration said it would delay the delivery of four F-16 fighters to the Egyptian armed forces.

A day later it sidestepped a decision on cutting off most of the annual $1.55 billion in aid, saying it does not plan to rule on whether a military coup took place, a determination that would have forced it to end most of the aid under U.S. law.

WCC student filmmakers bring home three Emmys - The Washtenaw ...

Eileen Meier, after winning her Emmy and the Michigan Chapter National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Awards of Excellence. (KRISTA KOEHLER COURTESY PHOTO)

By ALLIE TOMASON Managing Editor

Washtenaw Community College digital media students came away with three Michigan Emmys from the 35th Annual Emmy Gala.

Emmy winners were: George Pariseau, Kevin Jackson, and Eileen Meier for their documentary film in the Arts and Entertainment/Cultural Affairs category; ?The Flow,? Brad Tennant, in the Director category, for ?I?d Live for You;? and Barb Morrissey, in the Photography category, for ?Belle Isle Zoo.?

The June 15 event brought satisfaction and surprise to the winners.

?I felt ecstatic when George called me up and told me we won,? Jackson said.

?The Flow? is a film showcasing raw talent in the areas of fire, juggling and acrobatic performance. Ann Arbor?s Flowjo is a place where Meier, who also stars in the clip, has spent time entertaining with fire.

?I used to go there every Tuesday night to perform,? she said. ?It was so cool and such a big part of my life that I wanted to do a video about it.?

The assignment took about a month to complete, and about 40 hours to edit.

?I was involved in all aspects of the project, but my main focus was editing,? Pariseau said. ?The win was a surprise to all of us, or at least to me, anyway.?

Tennant?s creation, ?I?d Live for You,? filmed on University of Michigan?s campus, depicts what it would be like if the Grim Reaper got tired of death and fell in love with one of his casualties.

He said from concept to completion the movie took 3-4 months to produce. Editing as he went, he also wrote the guitar and drum line. The win was a total shock.

?It was kind of weird. I wasn?t expecting it,? he said. ?When they called my name I went up and said something. I don?t even remember what I said.?

Morrissey?s cinematography for ?Belle Isle Zoo,? portrays the zoo as it is now, a decrepit profile of what it once was?a family-friendly place to occupy an afternoon.

?I?ve always liked old and abandoned places,? she said. ?It?s sad that it used to be a happy place and now it?s broken and empty.?

Like the others, Morrissey was stunned when she heard her name.

?I wasn?t actually expecting it. I wanted to hear my name,? she said. ?I was taking a picture of the stage and they called my name. I was like what??

Morrissey said she hopes that the time and effort she spent showed in her work and obviously it did. She does have a piece of advice to give.

?I wouldn?t recommend people go to abandoned places where they don?t know the area?for safety reasons.? Digital Media Arts instructor Matt Zacharias said he is proud of all the students for their hard work and perseverance. He said that he knows when dealing with film it?s not the first draft?it?s the fifth, sixth and seventh.

?You know when you?ve nailed it,? he said. ?Because those projects are the ones that lead to success.?

Douchecanoe NBA Player Demanded That His GF Sign An ?Abortion Contract?

1J.J._Redick_Bucks_cropped__1374662323_74.134.205.46This is probably the least romantic thing I can think of. I?m sure lots of fancy famous people require the people they date to sign all sorts of nondisclosure agreements and other contracts, but I?m having a hard time totally understanding how this all works out. According to the International Business Times, ?around six or so years ago when J.J. Riddick was a rookie playing with the Orlando Magic (He now plays for the LA Clippers) , he broke up with a model named Vanessa Lopez. Vanessa was all ?Not so fast dude, we can?t break up because I am pregnant!? (I am guessing this is what she said. I have no idea. She may have just said FFFfffFFFFFFffffFFFFFF and thrown a plate at his head) and then he went and lawyer?d up and presented Miss Vanessa with an ABORTION CONTRACT.

According to the terms of the abortion contract, lawyers stipulated that Redick would agree to ?establish and maintain a social and/or dating relationship? with Lopez for at least one year. In exchange, Lopez would agree to abort her pregnancy, and submit to a battery of pre- and post-operation tests to confirm that the abortion had indeed taken place. ?In the event that the foregoing establishes that Lopez was either not pregnant or did not terminate the pregnancy, Redick shall have no further obligations hereunder,? the document states.

The abortion contract also included several other stipulations. For example, if Redick determined that he was no longer willing or able to enter into a ?relationship? with Lopez after the abortion, he reserved the right to pay Lopez $25,000 in compensation, in lieu of staying with her. The document also included a confidentiality agreement, as well as an understanding that any attempts by Lopez to maintain contract after their ?relationship? would constitute stalking.

Are you guys swooning yet? This is pretty much exactly the script of The Notebook,?except a lot less swooningly romantic and with weird abortion rules thrown in. What a mess. But things ended sort of happily ever after for Lopez, who in 2010 had an affair with a married Shaq and accused him of threatening her but then that case was thrown out of court.

I would have countered with my own contract that said stuff like :

If I go through with the abortion you have to attend all my appointments with me and pay for me to go to a spa after and you are never allowed to man guilt me about it and oh yeah, you have to get a hell of a lot better about birth control and if you ever bring up my abortion again you have to pay me 50 thousand dollars and also, stop acting like this important life decision we are making is some sort of thing that can be solved with lawyers.

Andddd this is why I didn?t marry a basketball player. Tah-dah!

Biggest Name on the Washington Nationals? Trade-Deadline Radar

Brewers

Evan Habeeb ? USA TODAY Sports

While many other teams have plenty of trade rumors swirling about, the Washington Nationals have remained fairly quiet with the exception of speculation from reporters, bloggers and experts.

There is, however, one name that always surfaces when the trade deadline is discussed: Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo.

It?s no secret that the No. 4 and 5 pitchers, Ross Detwiler and Dan Haren, are the weakest links in the pitching rotation, especially Haren. Haren is 4-11 this season with a 5.79 ERA. Let?s just say that Nationals fans don?t rush to the box office on nights when Haren takes the mound.

Still, the Nationals themselves, primarily general manager Mike Rizzo, have been hush-hush about their plans for the trade deadline. Rizzo has been adamant in defending and supporting both Detwiler and Haren and has said that he?s waiting to see how Detwiler?s back heals up before moving forward.

But, if the Nationals want to trade for a starting pitcher, Gallardo is a good option.

Gallardo is in the midst of his worst season in terms of winning percentage and ERA. The 27-year-old right-hander is 8-8 with a 4.58 ERA. He?s struck out 96 batters while walking 45.

However, there is potential for Gallardo. In 2011 and 2012, he won 17 games and 16 games, respectively. Over the course of that two-year span, he held a 3.59 ERA and struck out 411 batters. His 17 wins in 2011 made him a finalist for the Cy Young award.

While Gallardo has struggled when compared to his past, he?s still doing better than Haren. The only problem with trading for a pitcher to replace Haren, is that the Nationals would still owe Haren $13 million this year.

So, they may not trade to acquire Gallardo to replace Haren. If Rizzo doesn?t feel comfortable with the state of Detwiler?s back, which has kept him out since July 3, they could shut down Detwiler to let him heal his back and trade for Gallardo.

If they do trade for Gallardo to replace an injured Detwiler, that would not bode well for Haren to get a new deal in 2014, if that was ever a question. Haren is only under a one-year contract and trading to get Gallardo would mean that the Nationals would just have to ride out the life of Haren?s contract and then boot him out the door after the season.

So far this trade season, the Nationals have been quiet with their plans, if they have any at all. Rizzo and manager Davey Johnson have held firm in their support of their current team. It is important to note that they did trade for Chicago Cubs outfielder Scott Hairston.

But, trading for a pitcher like Gallardo could prove to be a great move in the long run. While he would have an immediate impact in 2013, Gallardo would also help restore the starting rotation to the terrifying force that it was in 2012.

The deadline is seven days away: July 31. For the Nationals, it could be a busy, sleepless seven days.

Secret Movie Star Becomes Secret Musician | Dr. Joe Vitale's Secret ...

This article by Mathes Jones, which appears in the July 2013 issue of Austin All Natural magazine, is just too good not to share here with you. May it inspire you to follow your own dreams. Enjoy. ? joe

The Secret of a Secret Movie Star

From Homeless to Bestselling Author to Movie Star to Healing Musician

by Mathes Jones

There?s a natural order and sequence to life that, as humans, we all understand: Night follows day. Crawl before walking. Grapes into wine. Rags to riches. Author turns movie star turns #1 rated singer/songwriter. You know, that kind of thing.

Wait ? ?What?chu talkin? ?bout, Willis??

Actually, it?s who, not what, and the answer is Dr. Joe Vitale, the world?s first self-help singer-songwriter.

Latest singer-songwriter album

Latest singer-songwriter album

It?s hard to know what Vitale is best known for ? his 50+ books, his role in the hit movie, ?The Secret,? or the three Grammy winners he attracted for one of the six albums (The Healing Song) he?s produced in only two years.

Oh, did I mention that a mere three years ago he could only strum a few chords on the guitar and had never written a song ? much like Paul McCartney and John Lennon who were just learning songwriting after they became the Beatles?

That?s definitely not the nice, neat, orderly progression we expect of typical humans. But Vitale is hardly typical. He lives in a world that looks much different than most of ours. Essentially, he lives ? and sings ? what he teaches.

Most (but not all) of his books and writings are in the self-help field, and he?s landed a mass of bestsellers, including The Attractor Factor and Zero Limits. His forthcoming book, The Remembering Process, is currently being published by the world?s leading self-help publisher, Hay House, and is due out in April 2014. His co-author is his music producer, Daniel Barrett.

Three Grammy Winners Helped Create This Album

Three Grammy Winners Helped Create This Album

Vitale sounds like a man on fire with a mission, and it?s undoubtedly where his moniker, Mr. Fire, comes from (www.mrfire.com). The truth is he is on a mission, showing the world how to use music to tap into our mind and body?s natural ability to heal.

He calls it Healing Music.

While Vitale has a fascinating backstory of homeless to multi-millionaire (he?s no one-hit wonder), it?s his rise to stardom as a singer-songwriter that?s so compelling today.

Just how does a person succeed wildly in all these different genres?

First Singer-Songwriter Album

Perhaps it?s because he?s a gifted communicator, a necessary and common denominator in books, film, and songwriting. Having spent a lifetime learning, applying, and sharing ancient wisdom and current technologies for self-improvement, he?s an expert in teaching people how to clear limiting beliefs that keep them from pursuing the things they really want.

But if you ask me, it?s something else that?s behind his success ? something Vitale refers to as divine inspiration.

Daniel Barrett, Joe Vitale, Dr. Joe Vitale, Glenn Fukunaga

The Band: Daniel Barrett, Joe Vitale, Dr. Joe Vitale, Glenn Fukunaga

?The whole point of personal growth is to clear any negative, limiting beliefs and gain access to your Divine self,? explains Vitale.? ?The great goal is to be so clear that when Divinity speaks through you, you don?t think, hesitate, or second guess about a call to take action. You just do it because there?s no interference from the conscious mind thinking, ?Oh, should I do it? Am I the one? Do I have the money? Do I have the experience? Do I have the time? What do my neighbors think? What do my parents think???

Vitale is an example of everything he teaches and sings in his songs. He takes his inspirations seriously. A believer in fast, immediate action, he?s famous for the saying, ?Money likes speed.? And this attitude has clearly worked for him ? taking him from zero to voted as #1 singer-songwriter by Reverbnation (in March 2013) in two years.

?When I decided to be a songwriter three years ago, I had thoughts like, ?I?m not a songwriter or singer. I can?t do that.? One of my teachers, famed singer-songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard, asked me, ?Where?s the proof? Where?s the proof you can?t do that?? When he said that, I thought, ?My God, he?s right. I have no evidence whatsoever that I can?t sing, play the guitar, record music, or write my own song. There?s no evidence!??

Ray Wylie Hubbard Gave Songwriting Advice

Ray Wylie Hubbard Gave Songwriting Advice

?And I did, in fact, prove myself wrong. Little did I know in the beginning that inspiration would move through me so fast I?d not only complete my very first CD (Blue Healer) in just two months, but play as many as seven instruments for it ? including a very rare 1915 Gibson Harp Guitar.?

Given Vitale?s success as a self-help and spiritual teacher, both in his own life and in his work with others, it?s natural that this rock-blues loving guy would take the music world by storm ? bringing his thousands of fans into a new awareness of music?s healing power.

Music?s ability to heal is not a new concept. Its power has been storied in ancient text for thousands of years of recorded history, and today is well documented in medical research, which? Vitale describes in his new ebook, Healing Music: The Miraculous Power of Positive Music to Uplift, Relax, Transform, Awaken, and Rejuvenate.

Vitale brings music to a new level, one accessible to everyone, whether at home, working out, or traveling. Each album he writes, sings, and records has a certain emphasis and intention, a particular therapeutic use and result ? because, as he says, ?Intention is a key driver in healing of any kind, and it matters in music, too, from the person who created it to the person listening.?

Using certain types of beats and tempos known to affect the mind and body positively, along with positive messages to uplift a sagging spirit, his eclectic music style is as wide and varied as his range of success. We?re talking sheer passion, not elevator music ? everything from soothing to down home stomping fun, like his standout song, ?You Gotta? (on his recent singer-songwriter album, Sun will Rise).

Whoever said a little fun can?t hurt you was only partially right ? it can heal you. And Vitale?s music is proof of it. ?The idea behind healing music like mine is to allow the high vibration of inspired music to work on you. That?s the basis for the healing.?

Being the world?s first self-help, singer-songwriter has its privileges. He?s attracted some of the music industry?s finest, including Glenn Fukunaga (Robert Plant), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer Joe Vitale (Yes, of the same name) and Grammy award winner David Darling to perform and record with him. He?s also recorded two instrumental albums with accomplished Guitar Monk Mathew Dixon. It?s no longer a secret that like attracts like.

According to Vitale, becoming a self-help musician was simply the next step. He got the call, so to speak, and, true to form, acted quickly on that divine inspiration. And it?s this instinct that?s so inspiring to the rest of us.

When asked about his meteoric path, he says, ?In a world of all possibilities, there?s only one thing that can stop you?your own mind. Fortunately, you can change that. You can expand your own capacity to receive all the good things in life.?

From the outside looking in, Vitale does make quantum leaps look like natural evolution, gliding seamlessly from one successful reality to another.

Hmm, maybe there is something to that healing music.

By Ken Levine: Only in LA

This is going to sound like a spoof but it?s not. It?s REAL. And it?s soooo very LA. There?s a coffee house in Santa Monica called Funnel Mill that sells a certain cup of coffee for $80 a cup.? And you can only get it by appointment.

?Oh, come on!? you?re saying. ?Even in a town that boasts a coroner?s gift shop, no one would pay $80 for one cup of coffee.?

Well, they do. By appointment only.

And it gets better. What makes this coffee so special? Again, I swear to you this is true:

The coffee is called Kopi Luwak. It?s made in Sumatra with the help of an animal, the Luwak, which looks like a cross between a raccoon and a pig. The Luwak eats coffee cherries off a tree?bean and all. The beans are fermented as they pass through the Luwak?s digestive tract. Then he shits them out and they get harvested, cleaned, roasted, ground, and made available for any Kardashian or Laker.

Who was the first person I wonder, who saw a steaming load of Luwak shit and thought, ?Hey, I bet if we processed this we could make great coffee?? His friends must've thought he was crazy for sure. ?Who would buy such a ridiculous thing?? And then one enterprising farmer caught an episode of REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS and said, ?Eureka! We?re all going to be rich! We can charge $80 for what is essentially a FEAR FACTOR stunt!?

If this designer coffee catches on, pig farmers all over the world will be feeding their flock grapes hoping they?ll shit out a hearty Chablis. Or cola beans ? COKE CAKA.

And the slogan possibilities are endless. ?Good till the last plop.? I?m sure the TWO AND A HALF MEN staff could come up with fifty more in like twelve seconds.

I will not be paying $80 for one cup of coffee no matter how good it is. I don?t care if this is Los Angeles and status and exclusivity are everything. I personally find it incredibly self-indulgent and downright irresponsible to spend more on coffee than Botox. Someone has to show a little common sense.?

Business Management Tip #4 ? Establishing a Mentoring Culture

Every business has individuals who mentor others; however, not everyone possesses a mentoring responsibility that permeates the culture.

  • Mentoring is a reflex?? a willingness of individuals to assist others by providing skill; insight; and/or knowledge that they make lack;
  • With a mentoring culture, the more experienced individuals naturally embrace the knowledge sharing role and the derivation of satisfaction from helping others grow and succeed and;
  • Individuals who mentor are more likely to join networks; groups; and/or communities when they feel these types of platforms allow them to fulfill the mentoring role.

Mayor?s push to spend $52-million tax surplus on flood relief meets opposition

?

Mayor Naheed Nenshi is asking council to spend the first two years of an annual $52 million tax surplus on flood relief, suggesting that, despite pledges from premier Alison Redford and Prime Minister Stephen Harper, funding from higher levels of government may not fully pay for flood recovery costs in Calgary.

Photograph by: Calgary Herald/Files , Calgary Herald

Rather than tap city reserves that sit at record levels, Mayor Naheed Nenshi wants to use two years of the controversial $52-million tax hike in anticipation the province and Ottawa won?t fully cover Calgary?s flood recovery costs.

The plan, released Monday, is facing early resistance from his colleagues because it presupposes the Redford government?s pledges aren?t reliable and seems to defy the public consultation council did before the disaster.

In Nenshi?s quest for a council majority of eight votes on his proposal, his pitch appears unlikely to persuade those who want undo the tax hike, and believe the consultation reinforced how popular the ?give it back? option was.

Click here take a poll on how you would spend the money.

It?s not just council?s anti-tax stalwarts in this camp. Ald. John Mar, whose inner-city ward was hit hard by flood damage, said he?s torn.

?My first blush is that we had a process with Calgarians that indicates they wanted the money back,? Mar said Monday.

But he also needs to be convinced how completely the city?s flood repairs to roads, river banks and other city infrastructure will be funded by other governments.

?I know they?re saying, ?Don?t worry, but we?ll fix it,? but I don?t know to what extent that is to be the case,? he said.

Depending on how slow this week?s marathon council meeting proceeds, on Tuesday or Friday council will make its long-awaited decision on how to use the tax ?surplus? council approved in April.

The city has given early estimate of public damages at a quarter-billion dollars, but expects that to rise.

Premier Alison Redford and Prime Minister Stephen Harper have both pledged full support as communities rebuild. While the premier has said negotiations will be a ?complicated business,? she said cities shouldn?t have to assume they must raise taxes to pay repair bills.

Nenshi?s proposal, similar to one Ald. Gord Lowe has mused about, would devote the $52 million to flood projects for two years, creating a $104-million fund. He expects at least $50 million of the city?s post-flood needs ? including better mapping software ? won?t qualify for full coverage, and that anything left over could go toward mitigation.

?Look, we?re not creating flood devastation to spend the money on,? the mayor said Monday.

He added later: ?The province has not at all suggested what they?re going to cover (on mitigation) and their track record on this, as you all know, has not been very positive on spending money on prevention and mitigation.?

The city has $295 million in its fiscal stability reserve ? designed for emergencies ? about six times more than in 2007. While it?s supposed to stand at between five and 15 per cent of annual operating expenses, it?s now at 11 per cent. Nenshi said he?s wary of depleting it, only to have to use future tax windfalls to refill it.

Ald. Andre Chabot, who?s long favoured giving the $52 million back, said the reserve is healthy enough. ?There?s a significant amount in that rainy day fund we can use ... as a rolling bank account,? he said.

It would be dangerous for council to assume the province won?t cover the city?s flood costs before negotiations are done.

Ald. Dale Hodges, whose Bowness community and his own home were both ravaged, isn?t keen on the mayor?s plan, either.

?There?s a lot of unknowns in this business, and why we?d want to make a decision today I have no idea.?

Nenshi can count on Ald. Richard Pootmans as one supporter of his pitch. ?Calgarians want us to get on with the job of recovery,? Pootmans said. ?I?m sure they are very disinterested in intergovernmental negotiations and just want us to take action.?

Two public opinion polls before the flood showed more than one-third of Calgarians want the $52 million back on their taxes, more than for transit, debt relief, neighbourhood upgrades or cutting business taxes. The city?s own consultation drew more than half of its 10,500 responses on the tax break option, but the feedback process didn?t actually ask residents what choice they favoured.

?As such, we are not able to provide analysis related to the option preferred by most respondents,? an Ipsos report on the consultation states.

Nenshi said he?ll read all the comments the city gathered, but not until 2014 when council considers what to do after the first two years of his $52 million flood fund.

That assumes his idea wins this week. While that?s uncertain, a path to compromise may sit in Chabot?s observation that it?s hard to refund the $52 million in 2013, since property taxes already came due with the hike in place.

The Ward 10 conservative said he?s comfortable using this first year of the $52 million on extraordinary post-flood costs, but the city can put it toward tax relief next year.

Apple: Security Researcher = Intruder?

Apple: Security Researcher = Intruder?

A security researcher thinks that he may be responsible for the so-called "attack" against Apple's Developer site but he says he's no "intruder."

Balic identified himself as a security researcher who consults for different firms and has started doing research on Apple. In his investigation, he said he found 13 bugs on the Developer site, which he reported to Apple through its bug-reporting site. One the bugs apparently provided him with access to user data, which he said he immediately reported to Apple. Four hours after he filed his report, the Developer Center shut down.

San Diego mayor accused in lawsuit of sexually harassing aide

SAN DIEGO | Mon Jul 22, 2013 5:56pm EDT

SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - Mayor Bob Filner, facing pressure to resign over allegations of making lewd comments and unwanted advances toward women, was hit on Monday with a sexual harassment lawsuit by a former aide who accused the 70-year-old mayor of asking her to "get naked" and kiss him.

The lawsuit against Filner and the city of San Diego was brought by the mayor's former director of communications, Irene McCormack Jackson.

The 11-page complaint, filed in San Diego County Superior Court, quotes Filner as telling Jackson last month in her office in City Hall: "When are you going to get naked? Come on and give me a kiss."

Talk of harassment has dogged Filner, and the mayor recently has acknowledged inappropriate behavior toward female staff members. But Jackson is the first woman to charge publicly that he had harassed her.

"The past six months turned out to be the worst time of my entire working life," Jackson told a news conference. "I had to work and do my job in an atmosphere where women were viewed by Mayor Filner as sexual objects or stupid idiots. I saw him place his hands where they did not belong on numerous women."

Filner's representatives could not immediately be reached for comment on the lawsuit. The mayor, a Democrat and former member of Congress, has said he will not step down.

Jackson was hired by Filner in January but currently director of communications for city operations. Her lawsuit also accused Filner of employment discrimination.

New Nexus 7 press shots leaked, spotted in Best Buy ad

New Nexus 7 press shots leaked

The new Nexus 7's official unveiling might still be a few days away, but impatient tablet fans can get a peek right now: @evleaks seems to have come across the alleged device's official press render. The image doesn't do much to confirm the 7-inch tablet's internal specifications, but what we can see matches previous leaks, giving us a clearer view of the device's rumored 5MP rear-facing camera and and a branded backside -- now lacking the dimples of the original. A pair of speakers can be seen on the rear's north and south ends and volume, power and a microphone input line the tablet's right edge.

On the front we can see an offset front-facing shooter, an underlining notification LED and what is most likely Android 4.3. Although the press shot doesn't reveal anything about the device's screen, a Best Buy ad featuring it pegs it as a 1,920 x 1,200 display, pricing the 16GB variant of the upcoming tablet at $229 --$40 less than the reported price of the slate's 32GB model. Phone Arena says the leaked ad is scheduled to run next week, placing the circular's promised Tuesday availability for the Nexus 7 on July 30th. We'll wait for Google to give us the full story on the 24th before jumping the gun, but if you just can't wait, feel free to ogle Best Buy's unreleased insert after the break.

Indian Kashmir continues to simmer after shooting deaths of 4 villagers by government troops

Protesters have clashed with government troops in several parts of Indian-controlled Kashmir for the second straight day, defying a curfew imposed to restrain public anger over the killing of four villagers in the disputed region.

Police said that the protesters Saturday threw rocks, and that police and paramilitary forces used batons and tear gas and fired warning shots of live ammunition to control the crowds. Five protesters and 2 police officers were injured in the clashes.

At least 50 people were injured in similar clashes Friday.

The unrest follows the fatal shootings by government troops Thursday of four villagers who were protesting the alleged desecration of the Muslim holy book by border guards in a remote village in the region.

Woods in the mix on another sunny day at Muirfield

GULLANE, Scotland (AP) ? Tiger Woods plodded along most of the day. He lipped out a putt from 2? feet. He settled for a bunch of pars.

Then, with his final stroke, he looked like the Tiger of old.

Woods rolled in a 15-footer for birdie on Muirfield's tough closing hole Friday, raising his putter toward the blue sky with a flourish, fully aware he was positioned again to break the longest major drought of his career.

"It will be a fun weekend," Wood said. "This golf course is going to be difficult."

He finished with an even-par 71 that looked pretty good under the circumstances. This was another day for surviving the perilous, rock-hard setup, and Woods walked to the clubhouse just three shots behind first-round leader Zach Johnson, one of the last guys to tee off.

Not bad, considering Woods went through a stretch of 12 holes without a birdie before stealing one at the 18th.

"I was kind of fighting it," he said.

Everyone was.

Lee Westwood was one of the few morning starters to put up a score in the 60s, but even he was staggering a bit by the end. After a brilliant front nine ? he carded five birdies ? the 40-year-old Englishman bogeyed three of the last six holes to finish with a 68.

Still, he joined Woods and Henrik Stenson at 2-under 140 overall, solidly in contention for his first major title. The last English golfer to win the British Open was Nick Faldo in 1992.

"Why not enjoy it out there?" Westwood said. "It's tough for everybody. So smile your way through."

Woods is trying to break a drought of his own. He's 0-for-16 at majors since the 2008 U.S. Open, and missed four others during that stretch recovering from injuries.

Whoever wins this one will have to earn it. While the weather has been unseasonably warm and dry, the fearsome wind more of a gentle breeze, there weren't many chances for going low. Not on a tabletop of a course that is more brown than green, with pin conditions that some players complained were downright unfair.

As expected, the conditions toughened in the afternoon as the bright sun firmed up the greens even more. Johnson bogeyed three of the first six holes. Phil Mickelson drove into a bunker at the second and took a double-bogey. Brandt Snedeker doubled the 10th. Rafael Cabrera-Bello did the same at the 14th. At one point, there was a four-way tie for the lead with Johnson, Miguel Angel Jimenez, two-time major champion Angel Cabrera and long-hitting American Dustin Johnson.

The morning was tough for Mark O'Meara, the 1998 Open champion who opened with a surprising 67 that left him one stroke behind Johnson. The course bit back Friday, sending the 56-year-old plunging out of contention. He lost his ball at No. 6, leading to a double-bogey, and stumbled to the finish with a 78.

"It's pretty simple: If you don't hit it good in an Open championship with the rough the way it is out there, you're going to make some bogeys," O'Meara said. "The short game is key. You have to putt well. I did none of those well."

O'Meara wasn't the only old-timer to fall back. Fifty-four-year-old Tom Lehman followed a 68 Thursday with a 77 less than 24 hours later.

The young weren't spared, either.

Jordan Spieth, the 19-year-old who last weekend became the PGA Tour's youngest winner since 1931, made only two bogeys through his first 32 holes and was 3 under. Then came a double-bogey at the 15th, back-to-back bogeys at the next two holes, and a missed chance at No. 18 when a 4-footer for birdie slid by the cup.

Just like that, the youngster found himself at 1-over 143.

Spieth conceded that he got a little bored making all those pars.

"Yesterday, I was for some reason extremely patient with just taking my 30-footers and just trying to give myself tap-ins and not worrying about making birdies," he said. "Today I finally got to a point where I had enough and wanted to really hit it closer. And that's what happens when you try."

Darren Clarke, the surprise Open champion in 2011 but mostly an afterthought since then, had no trouble making birdies on the front side. He rolled in four of them. Unfortunately for him, all that good work was wiped out by one bad hole ? a quadruple-bogey 8 at the sixth. He finished with a 71 and also was at 143.

Zach Johnson had not been atop the leaderboard at any major since he rallied to win the Masters six years ago. He took advantage of kinder conditions Thursday morning to shoot a 66, helped along by a 45-foot eagle putt. But, after making only one bogey in the opening round, he started to find trouble lurking around every pot bunker, the course hardening in weather that looked more like Southern California than Scotland.

Not far from the course, swimmers frolicked in the Firth of Forth, taking advantage of the northern edge of a heat wave sweeping the British Isles.

Rory McIlroy can go swimming this weekend if he likes.

He struggled to a 79 in the opening round, and kept going in the wrong direction by playing the first seven holes at 4 over ? including his third double-bogey of the tournament. The former No. 1 player in the world has been in a baffling slump since his runaway victory at last year's PGA Championship, and a 12-over total assured he won't be back on Saturday.

Ditto for Luke Donald, who also spent time at the top of the world rankings. He followed a dismal 80 in the opening round with a mediocre 73, leaving him with a 10-over score that had no chance of making the cut.

He likes the ring of President King: Rep. Peter King weighing 2016 run for White House

	Rep. Pete King

Handout

Rep. Pete Kin (R-Long Island) has been in Congress for 11 terms but is weighing a run for the nation's top job: President.

WASHINGTON ? This King is thinking about becoming President.

Rep. Pete King of Long Island, a Republican who has served 11 terms in Congress, said Thursday he?s weighing a run for the White House in 2016.

?I?m going to look at it. I will go on speaking out on the issues, see who enters the race, and take it from there,? King said.

King has a history of flirting with higher office. He weighed entering the 2000, 2004 and 2010 races for U.S. Senate. And he eyed a potential campaign for governor in 2010.

RELATED: NYPD COMMISSIONER RECEPTIVE TO HOMELAND SECURITY JOB: KING

Each time, he backed off.

The idea of a presidential bid was floated by the conservative website Newsmax, which cited support from former Arizona Rep. Barry Goldwater Jr. and Michael Mukasey, a former New York federal judge who served as attorney general in the George W. Bush administration.

They said the party needs a candidate with a strong background in national security ? a credential that two of the GOP?s potential 2016 candidates, Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Rand Paul of Kentucky, do not have.

King has chaired the House Committee on Homeland Security.

RELATED: GOP REJECTS COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH ON IMMIGRATION

?My concern is that there?s no Republican speaking out on national security from a national security standpoint. Rand Paul is talking about the CIA killing people in Starbucks with drones,? King said, referencing Paul?s doomsday scenario of uninhibited government power.

The obstacles to a King candidacy would be enormous.

Although King opposes abortion, sharing a view embraced by GOP primary voters, he supports new gun controls, breaking with many rank-and-file Republicans. And his successful push for $60 billion in Hurricane Sandy aid for storm-battered states put him at odds with most House Republicans.

King brushed off the idea of that his positions might make it hard to sell his candidacy to the conservative Republicans who turn out for the party's presidential primaries. Instead, he said he could help the GOP win back moderate ?Reagan Democrats.?

RELATED: HOUSE PASSAGE UNCERTAIN FOR IMMIG. REFORM BILL

?Right now we?re giving up too many votes by antagonizing people like carpenters, engineers, cops and firefighters,? King said. ?These people need to be part of the Republican conversation, and I?ve shown that I can appeal to them.?

Larry Sabato of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia noted that King is ?well-known, at least to the political community, and he?s clearly associated with terrorism and national security issues. Those are all pluses.?

But no incumbent House member has become President since James Garfield, in 1880.

?Politicians often float trial balloons with no real intention of following through,? Sabato said. ?This may be one of those cases.?

Late Thursday, King sent supporters an email that said "my name has been floated as a potential 2016 presidential candidate."

"I'm nowhere near ready to declare my candidacy," King wrote, but he added that he was "concerned" about his party's positions on security and counterterrorism.

The email ended with a link to make donations to King's congressional campaign.

How to cache maps for offline use in Google Maps 2.0 for iOS

If you use Google Maps for directions on your iPhone or iPad, you've undoubtedly ran into a spotty service area and had issues retrieving directions. Caching maps for offline use before hand can prevent something like this from happening.

While Google doesn't make caching maps for offline use a very obvious option, it is there and we can show you how to use it.

  1. Launch the Google Maps app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Find the area of the map that you'd like to cache for offline use either by pinching to zoom in and out or entering an address and making sure the screen is zoomed out enough to capture the area you'd like to save.
  3. Now in the Search bar type in Ok Maps and hit Search.
  4. You'll see a screen with the Google icon showing that it's processing the area for offline caching. If you receive an error message that the area couldn't be cached because it's too large, try zooming in to a smaller area.
  5. You'll now see a message at the bottom screen confirming that the area you've selected has been cached for offline use.

That's all there is to it. This is a great trick for iPad users who only have WiFi but still want to use Google Maps for directions while traveling. Give it a try and let us know how it worked for you!

As a reader pointed out in the comments, you can also clear cached data any time. The setting is buried but it's there. Just navigate to the following:

  • Settings > About, Terms & Privacy > Terms & Privacy > Clear application data
